There’s lots of different type of Christians but all believe in the same God. Christianity is based on the life and teaching of Jesus, the son of God. By learning more about Jesus you could read the bible it’s full of stories about his teachings. Christianity is a monotheistic religion because Christians only believe in one God. Christianity is the world’s largest religion in the world there are over 2 billion followers worldwide that believe in God that sent his son Jesus to save everyone. Before Jesus came to the world human beings were been giving sinful things which have been separated from God.Jesus was killed on the cross three days later he rose from the dead. By dying Jesus won a victory over sin and brought Christians to God.

Founding Story

How did this religion begin?
Christians believe that one night 2000 years ago the angel Gabriel appeared in a dream to a young Jewish woman named Mary. Gabriel told her that she would give birth to the Messiah, who was to be the Son of God. Gabriel replied that she had been chosen by God for this divine mission and that the Holy Spirit would make the conception possible. Christians believe that Jesus was born of a virgin mother. His birth signals the beginning of Christianity. Christians believe that when Jesus of Nazareth was about 30, he began traveling the through Gaille teaching and preaching. Jesus ministry began after he was baptist by a man called John the baptist. John was a prophet, and he predicted the coming of the Messiah in the person of Jesus. After Jesus was baptized he went to the desert to prepare himself for his mission on earth. While Jesus was in the desert he was tempted by satan. Having successfully stood up to the Devil, Jesus ended his stay at the desert. He then set about doing what Christians believe he was put on earth to do to spread the world about the kingdom of God. Jesus began selecting 12 men to be his disciples. Some of the apostles were ordinary ,men. They were Andrew, James, John, Matthew, and Peter. Eleven of those chosen by Jesus remained loyal to the end. But one Judas Iscariot is said to have betrayed Jesus to Jewish authorities. When Jesus was nailed on the cross left to die, Christians believe that Jesus rose after three days and spent another 40 days on Earth.

Key Figures
Important people to the story
Before Christianity began before Jesus, both Jews and Christians believe that Abraham had to come to recognize only one god before he led his followers to the “promised land” of Canaan. According to the Bible it was at Haran that God revealed himself to Abraham and commanded him to take his people and move to another land. Both Jews and Christians refer to Genesis 12:1 of the Old Testament story. The Hebrews leaving Haran seemed from covenant Jews believe God made with Abraham. According to Jewish belief God would make the Hebrews his “chosen people” and give them the land of Canaan if they would obey him and follow his rule. If Abraham was the “father” of the Hebrews, then Moses was their “liberator.” It was Moses who led the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt after they have been enslaved by the Egyptian Pharaoh or king. God appeared to him in a form of burning bush and God told him to return to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery. After Moses freed the Israelites the wander in the wilderness for the Promised Land. Both Jews and Christians believe that God provided Moses and his followers with food and water during their journey across the desert.

Beliefs about the afterlife
A belief shared by Christians that Jesus died in the cross for their sins. Christians believe that if they accept Jesus as savior and live a righteous life, they will go to heaven when they die. Christians believe that people who do not accept Jesus as savior will spend eternity in hell. The fate of the day will be determined on the Day of Judgement. On this day Christians believe, every person will have to give an account of his or her deeds. Christians want to end up in heaven when they died. Jesus rose from the dead three days later, thus proving that he was a divine figure and not just a ortal. His rising from the dead , or “resurrection” symbolizes the new life that is [possible for all human beings through their special relationship[ with God. The dead will rise and live again. |

Some important days are Baptism, Communion, Sunday, Christmas and Easter and more. Christians believe that baptism is very important to “wash away” sin and to signify the beginning of a new life. The method of baptism varies from church to church. Another important day is Communion it reacts the Last Supper that Jesus ate with his disciples before he was arrested and crucified. When you do your holy communion you have a piece of bread that symbolizes Jesus Body and some wine which symbolizes Jesus Blood. Sunday is important because Christians worship God that day. They believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead on a Sunday. Christmas is important because it celebrates the birth of Jesus, although no one is certain where Jesus was born. Easter is important because it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus. Which is mentioned earlier occurred on a Sunday. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. Famous places and images of the religion
A symbol of suffering and defeat but also of triumph and salvation, the cross is the universal Christian symbol, acknowledged by all denominations as the single visual identifier of their faith. While Good Friday marks the Passion of Christ and his crucifixion, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. Christians reflect on the cross as a symbol of salvation with the feast of the Triumph of the Cross on September 14th. Also in the first century when it was still super underground to be a Christian you were a secret symbol of Christianity. Used to kinda hide from the Romans. Ichthys the Greek Word for fish was an acronym and it was super clever to talk about religion without anyone knowing what you are talking about it.

Sects and Branches
There’s many different sects but three important ones are Ancient Roman Christians, The Great Schism, and The Protestant Reformation. Ancient Roman Christians the Romans didn’t allowed the religion christianity. Christians were different, they did not accept the emperor as a god and refused to worship him. Also Christians refused to serve in the army for the Romans. Because Christians refused to do what the Romans asked, they were blamed for a number of problems that happened in the empire. So Christians were punished by being crucified, burn alive, eaten by animals, also beheaded. Until years later a emperor made Christianity the official religion of the Roman empire. The Great Schism the Roman empire were splitting into two to be ruled properly. The Eastern Empire was ruled by an emperor. The man was not a priest, but controlled church business. He and Christians didn't like the idea being ruled by a Pope. The Western Empire priest could get married, the official language is Greek. The Eastern and Western had many differences and didn’t agreed on the same things. The church was a permanent split between the Eastern orthodox and Roman Catholic. The Protestant Reformation the Roman Catholic Church increased fees for services such as baptisms and marriages. Also promoted sales of indulges a punishment for sins (they sold you a piece of paper that said your sins are forgiven). Martin Luther didn’t agree on the rules of the Roman Catholic Church. He would make a list of complaints and make them public. So he had to hide for his protection so the Lutheran church was founded and it spread.
